Tom Byrne "Recognition of Excellence in Leadership" Weekend

Tom Byrne was the football coach at Wenatchee High School for 13 years from 1953-65. The Carroll College graduate guided teams to a 69-34-3 record including a 9-0 state championship in 1958. His 1957 squad was the first WHS grid team to break into the state football weekly rankings. Upon his retirement from coaching, Byrne's teams had won four consecuitive NCWAA League Championships.

During a single season as baseball coach, Coach Byrne's nine won 14 straight games and a NCWAA League Championship.

Coach Byrne was selected as head coach of the 1959 State All-Star Football Game and was inducted into the Washington State Football Coaches Hall of Fame and is a member of the Wenatchee High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Tom Byrne was the assistant principal of Wenatchee High School from 1962-1968 when he became the principal until his retirement in 1985.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE WEEKEND:

1. You will NOT be receiving tickets for the events occuring this weekend. Your name will be on a list at the event and you will be provided a name tag for the event. The name tag is your ticket into the event and your pass to eat.

2. The Friday night BBQ will occur in the endzone under the scoreboard. You are encouraged to enter the Pioneer Middle School parking lot and entrance to the Apple Bowl. You may want to bring a lawn chair if you will not be comfortable in a folding chair.

3. The dress for the Saturday event is "smart casual".

4. If you have NOT signed up with us by Wednesday-September 17th we can not guarantee you'll be fed as we must report to the caterer our numbers on Wednesday.

- Halftime Introduction of Coach Byrne and brief announcement of the award / weekend activities.

- Cost is $11 per person ( Ticket into the Game and BBQ )

Saturday September 20, 2008

-Evening of Recognition of Excellence in Leadership for Tom Byrne

- Location : Wenatchee Convention Center, 201 N. Wenatchee Avenue

- 5:00 Doors Open

- 6:30 Program

- Cost is $30 per person ( modest buffet ) There will be a no-host bar

This award will have it's first recipient in the spring of 2009.
