Week of June 4 - June 8   Unidad 5/Etapa 3

This week we'll be reviewing vocabulary about environmental protection, the conditional tense (could/would should do) and reviewing the uses of por and para.

Oral finals testing will take place during class this week and next week.

This week we'll be learning nature vocabulary, items about Costa Rica and exploring the future tense in Unidad 5, Etapa 1

Wednesday - introduction of future tense, creation of future verb table, complete workbook pages 117-118

Week of April 16-20  WASL Testing and Culminating Project Lessons

This week we'll be learning about Spanish culture and history via two excellent programs.

Monday - Go over test results and complete remediation practice, read vocabulary list for "The Soul of Spain"

Tuesday & Wednesday - Watch the National Geographic film, "The Soul of Spain,"  read vocabulary list for "The Virgin and the Bull."

Thursday & Friday - Watch volume I in The Buried Mirror series, "The Virgin and the Bull."  Remediation work due.

Due to the WASL schedule, each class meets three times this week.

Week of April 9-13

This week we'll be reviewing the stem-changing forms of subjunctive mood and prepositions of place, and learning how to give directions, as well as vocabulary related to towns and cities.

Monday - Review of stem-changing subjunctive verb forms, write one sentence using each of the 20 stem-changing verbs in your chart, rotate subjects and beginnings

Tuesday - Review commands and prepositions, small groups create maps of Wenatchee and write directions

Wednesday - Finish and share maps, follow each others' directions, verb review game, study chapter vocabulary

Thursday - Reading practice, play spoons with verbs, Vocab quiz, review for chapter exam

Friday - Chapter exam, end of third quarter

Week of March 26 - 30

This week we'll be introducing the stem-changing forms of subjunctive mood, learning prepositions of place and how to give directions, as well as vocabulary related to towns and cities.

Monday - Introduction to new vocabulary on page 287, reading practice, activities 1-3 on pages 272-273

Tuesday - Introduction to stem-changing subjunctive, practice activities 5/p 274 and 8/p 276, workbook pages 101-102

Wednesday - practice with stem-changing subjunctive, discussion of subjunctive with infinitive, workbook pages 103-104

Thursday - Learn Preposition Song and how to give directions

Week of March 19 - 23

This week we'll be learning hotel and travel vocabulary, reviewing irregular subjunctive, and learning to use subjunctive forms when expressing hopes and wishes.

Monday & Tuesday - Introduction to vocabulary on pg. 265, answer comprehension questions from hand-out

Wednesday - Introduction of subjunctive with hopes and wishes, workbook pages 93-94

Thursday - Review of subjunctive construction, vocabulary, workbook pages 95-96

Friday - Quiz on vocabulary and subjunctive

Week of March 12 - 16  WASL WEEK #1

This week we'll be watching the Spanish version of  "Beauty and the Beast/Bella y la Bestia" in order to practice recognizing the

difference between preterite and imperfect tenses.  There will be a packet of work to accompany the movie that is for extra credit.  Students who

are currently failing will work to make up and retake all missed work and will not participate in regular class activities.

Week of March 5 -9

Unidad 3, Etapa 3:  This week we'll be reviewing body parts, medical terms vocabulary, and time

expressions with the verb "hacer."  We'll be introducing use of the subjunctive mood with impersonal expressions.

Test Friday - Vocabulary, time expressions with hacer, subjunctive with impersonal expressions

 

Monday - Introduction and practice with subjunctive

Tuesday - Finish timeline presentations and conversation exchange with ESL classes

Wednesday - Practice with subjunctive, workbook pages 87 & 88

Week of February 26 - March 2

Unidad 3, Etapa 3:  This week we'll be introducing body parts and medical terms vocabulary, and learning how to use time

expressions with the verb "hacer."  For example: I've been studying Spanish for two years.  I went to Mexico two years ago.

This week  we'll be reviewing how to discuss chores, form adverbs with the suffix "-mente," and forming polite/formal and informal/tú

commands.

Thursday - poster sharing, conversation practice in pairs, complete text pages 190 & 191 for review

Friday - Chapter Test , slides and stories from Puerto Rico

Due to technical difficulties homework assignments were not posted for this week.

Week of February 5 - 9

This week  we'll be reviewing about how to discuss daily routines, fitness and health. Students will practive how to form polite or formal commands.

Week of January 29-February 2

This week  we'll be learning about how to discuss daily routines, fitness and health. Students will learn how to form polite or formal commands.

Health and Daily Routine Writing Project due Monday February 5.

Monday - Go over first semester exam and chart results, introduce new vocabulary, text p. 193

Tuesday - Take 2nd semester pre-test, read in pairs, answer "preguntas personales", text p. 175 and actividades 1-3, text p. 178

Wednesday - Play vocab slap, review pronoun placement, text p. 180, workbook pgs. 69 & 70

Thursday - Introduce formal/polite commands, complete new verb table, game, text p. 183, activity 10 - add 5 commands of your own for a classmate

Friday - VOCABULARY QUIZ, pronoun placement with commands, team game with student commands
