PROJECT H.O.P.E.
Health Occupations Preparatory Experience
===============
Sponsored by:
Washington State Department of Health
Students interested in the healthcare field have an awesome opportunity to apply for a paid summer internship through Project H.O.P.E. Students can pick up an application at the WHS Career Center.
Students who apply are screened for a minimum GPA of 2.0; they must comply with state workplace requirements; a Washington State Patrol background check may be required; and they have expressed an interest in exploring health careers. The internships are 20 hours per week for up to six weeks. Interns receive $600 for successful completion of the program. Efforts are made to identify health care facilities within easy commute distance from the intern's home. A student may spend a part or the entire six weeks in one facility or more.
Preference is given to diverse groups currently under-represented in the health professions; students who are the first in their family to attend college; students from rural communities; and Juniors and Seniors in high school.
