COLLECTION OF EVIDENCE: A portfolio alternative to passing the HSPE.
SAT, ACT, or AP TEST SCORES: If a student meets the cut score on these tests, it will count as meeting standard on the HSPE.
HSPE / GRADES COMPARISON: Seniors that have at least a 3.2 GPA can have their last four classes in that subject analyzed to see if their grades were higher than the average of students in that class that did pass the HSPE.
SPECIAL EDUCATION: Students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) may qualify to meet standard in an alternative way.
It is important to note that these alternatives cannot be used until the student has made a valid attempt at the high school HSPE (or an HSPE-equivalent in another state).
