Introduction: Why should I care?

"I'm pretty confident about the WASL, I just think people will begin to realize how important it is." - Ellen Freed, WHS Class of 2008

It's official: 2006 has arrived, and now the WASL counts.  Is it time to panic?  Do you need to stay up late cramming?  Do you need to compromise your intellectual independence in order to succeed?  Absolutely not!

However, according to state law (as of 3/2006), you must pass all three sections (Math, Reading and Writing--Science in 2010) if you want to receive your high school diploma.  Preparing yourself to meet all of these standards depends on many different variables, and this Web site cannot replace the ten years of preparation you already have behind you.  The WASL doesn't try to trick you--it asks you to demonstrate the skills you already have.  Remember: it's not about what you don't know, it's about what you do know.

This Webquest (or should it be WASLquest?) will give you a better idea of what to expect, and how to identify the experience and expertise you already have within you.  Above all else, it will emphasize what you need to pay attention to so you can put the WASL behind you and then build on those skills as you follow your dreams and passions in life.
