About us

Over the last 20 years, SADD has been committed to empowering young people to lead education and prevention initiatives within their schools and communities. Founders as Students Against Driving Drunk in 1981 in Wayland Massachusetts, SADD has grown to become the nation's dominant peer-to-peer youth education and prevention organization with thousands of chapters in middle schools, high schools and colleges. In 1997, in response to requests from SADD students themselves, SADD expanded its mission and name, and now sponsor chapters called Students Against Destructive Decisions. SADD continues to endorse a firm "no use" message ralated to use of alcohol and other drugs. With its expanded focus, SADD now highlights prevention of all destructive behaviors and attitudes that are harmful to young people, including underage drinking, substance abuse, impaired driving, violence and suicide.
Wenatchee High Schools SADD club has been running off and on for the past 12 years. However, three years ago it was re-started, by the efforts of our former president Lisha.
Our advisor is Paul Hadley, President Jacylyn Flones, Vice President Shane Milner, Treasurer Kelly Pearl, Secretary Mikeala Elwell, and P.R (Public Relations) Lindsey Hadley.
WHS's SADD chapter has been trained in a program called Teens Tobacco and the Media. Which educates students about the sneaky ways big tobacco companies manipulate the media. We (SADD members) have also attended the annual State SADD conference, which happened to be in Wenatchee last year. We're also going to be attending the State conference again this year, which will be held in Olympia.
SADD has been supporting itself by putting on car washes, selling Anti-drug suckers, selling different SADD merchandise...etc. We're also planning on conducting a White out/Ghost out Day, which brings into startling revelation, the deaths caused by drinking and driving.
