Welcome to 2008-2009 school year Mariachi program!  Some of the kids are in their second year and some are brand new.  We would like to use this letter to make sure that you understand how you can make a difference in your kids learning experience in the Mariachi program. 

Homework - Every day the kids have homework.  They need to practice the scales and the chords of the songs that we are currently practicing in class.  Every month they should provide the teacher with a calendar that has to be signed by the parent recording how much time they practiced every day.

They have new books that were provided for them by the Wenatchee School District.  Books should be marked with the student’s names to avoid confusion.  In the event that the student loses theirs, an extra copy may be provided for  $5. 00.

Concerts – The will have many concerts they will be getting ready for this school year. Concerts are 30% of their grade. You can help by providing transportation to the concert to a student that needs it.

Instruments -  Most of the kids are taking advantage of the instruments that the school has for them to borrow.  Every student needs to have a contract signed by the parent that acknowledges the instrument number and type.  Please encourage kids to take good care of the instrument and to bring it home to practice.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2008-2009 del programa de Mariachi!  Algunos de los estudiantes van  en su Segundo año y otros son principiantes.  Nos gustaría asegurarnos que usted entienda cómo usted puede hacer una diferencia en la experiencia de aprendizaje de sus hijos en el programa de Mariachi.

Tareas – Cada día los estudiantes tienen tarea.  Necesitan practicar las escalas y los acordes de las canciones que estamos practicando en clase.  Cada mes deben entregar al maestro el calendario firmado por los padres con el registro de cuántos minutos han practicado cada día y el total de minutos practicados al mes.

Tienen libros de música nuevos que han sido provistos para ellos por el Distrito Escolar de Wenatchee.  Los cuadernos de música deben estar marcados con el nombre del estudiante para evitar confusión.  En caso de que pierdan su cuaderno, una copia extra se proveerá  por $5.00.

Conciertos – Los conciertos constituyen 30% de la calificación de la clase.  Gracias a los padres que apoyaron la pequeña presentación que los estudiantes hicieron durante el día de la Escuela Abierta para los padres y la comunidad, fue fabuloso!  Usted puede ayudar al proveer transportación a un concierto a un estudiante que necesite transportación.

Instrumentos – La mayoría de los estudiantes se aprovechan de los instrumentos que la escuela les presta.  Cada estudiante tiene que tener un contrato firmado por el padre o tutor donde especifica el número del instrumento y cuál instrumento tiene.  Favor de animar a los estudiantes a cuidar sus instrumentos y a traerlos a casa para practicar.

Esperamos con anhelo las experiencias de este año.  Por favor apoye a sus hijos/as al venir a los conciertos y a las reuniones de padres.
