Gigi Shaw-Matchley

Speech Language Pathologist

Philosophy: Stephen Grellet once wrote, " I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good , therefore, that i can do or any deed of kindness that I may show to my fellow man, let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. This quotation has stayed with me since high school days and has influenced my teaching career. Each day is to be celebrated. Life holds opportunities for us to "grow" and "become" everyday. I believe speech is the first basic skill we humans have the capacity to use our gift of speech and language to make the different. speech can encourage or destroy, put-up or put-down , in form or destroy, love or reject. It is my privilege to be able to help children and adults to archive their highest potential in listening and speaking.

Program: Teaching the Production of sounds, increasing vocabulary, grammar, and syntax skills, employing techniques to achieve fluent speech, and sharing methods to save the "voice" from mis-use or abuse are the main components of my therapy program. Additionally, I block schedule classrooms which allow students the opportunities to confront everyday issues like bullying, cooperation attitude, non-verbal communication, self-talk, fillings and forgiveness. Holidays also provide rich language learning experiences. My caseload is established through referral, screening and testing which leads to scheduling individuals, small groups, and classrooms. Services are given for articulation, voice, language, fluency and hearing. Presently, I am the Speech Language Pathologist [Speech therapist] for Wenatchee High School, Pioneer Middle School and Mission View Elementary School..
