The Circulatory System

The circulatory system is the system that pumps blood through the entire body. The heart is the pump and the arteries act as pipes for the blood. Blood then flows back to the heart in the veins. Capillaries allow blood to flow into the rest of the body. Blood carries oxygen from the lungs to the body. It also carries nutrients from the intestines. Kidneys filter bad things out of the blood.

Blood follows these steps through the body:

1. The blood receives oxgen from the lungs.

2. It moves to the heart and is pushed out.

3. It flows through the arteries to the capillaries.

4. After the oxygen is absorbed by each part of the body, blood flows into the veins.

5. The blood flows back to receive more oxygen.
