The Brain
What is the Brain for? The brain is the most important part of your nervous system. It controls your body's movements, speech, thoughts, and emotions. With out the brain, the body would not function. It tells your organs what to do. The brain has different parts which specialize on certain things. The brain consists of the parietal lobe, frontal lobe, temporal lobe, occipital lobe, cerebellum, and the brain stem.
The Different Parts of the Brain and Their Functions
Temporal Lobe This part of your brain controls your hearing and it also serves for memory retreval. It is located on each side of your head. Frontal Lobe The frontal lobe also serves for memory. Not only is it for memory, but it's where your emotional traits come from. Thought process and concentration are conducted here as well. It also controls movement and speech. The frontal lobe is located where your forehead is.
Parietal Lobe This part of your brain processes emotions, problem solving, and planning. It also controls body orientation. The parietal lobe located on the top of your head. Occipital Lobe The occipital lobe controls your visions. It processes what your seeing so you can understand it. It's located on the top back of your head. Cerebellum This is where your movements are coordinated. The cerebellum is located at the lower back of your head, right above the neck. Brain Stem The medulla oblongata is very important part of your brain because it tells your body to breath and your heart to pump. It is also where your reflexes, blood pressure, and heart rate are controled. Another reason for why the medulla oblongata is important is that it's the location where your nerve signals are relayed. This means that it sends nerves signals all over body so you can react to things or move. The brain stem is located below the cerebellum.
What Does The Brain Really Look Like?
Nerves The brain is connected to the spinal cord where nerves branch off to your arms and legs. These nerves make it possible for you to move. Signals are sent from your brain through your spinal cord to your nerves which then tells your muscles to move. Nerves also make it possible for you to have reflexes like when you touch something hot. Your nerves sense something hot and they send a signal to your brain. The brain then sends a message back telling your muscles to move away from the heat. All of this happens faster then you can think.
