Project: Skin Cancer and Tanning

Contact Name: Nathan Whitley (nwhitley@puyallup.k12.wa.us)

School: Governor Rogers High School

Date Completed: Spring 2003

Details:

A mock newscast by five female students dressed in white shirts and dark ties, sitting at a table, was the format used to present a report on skin cancer and tanning. The students read their portions of the newscast, used a video they had made of interviews conducted at school regarding student tanning habits, included some PowerPoint slides to illustrate some points and had a poster map of the U.S. and risks of skin cancer by state. The group included information on the use of tanning substitutes such as tanning pills and lotions.
