Project: How lichens are affected by air quality

Contact Name: Emily Garlish (EGarlich@sheltonschools.org)

School: Shelton High School

Date Completed: Spring 2003

Details:

A group of three students sat at a table and explained their study of how lichens are affected by air quality (which can then be used as a rough judge of an area's air quality). Their study included sampling lichens from a lightly traveled, rural road and a busy, major highway (US 101). They showed samples of the types of lichen they studied, and effectively used small "posters" to show their results by focusing the camera to get close-up shots of the posters.
