Project: Illegal Drug Use on Unborn Children
Contact Name: Heather McLaughlin (heatherm@spokaneschools.org)
School: Lewis and Clark High School
Date Completed: Winter 2003
Details: Three students sat at a table and stood up one at a time to read their information regarding the effects of illegal drug use on unborn children, infants and young children. The presentation was given in a role-playing format. One student posed as a doctor who presented information and showed photos of the effects (although these couldn't be seen well by the audience). A second person played the role of a young mother caring for her infant who was born with effects from the mother's drug use during pregnancy. The third person acted as an affected child who was born addicted to methamphetamine.
