Computer Lab Items

- Bring all of your supplies and
research to the lab for easy accessibility
- Do not rely on your group members to
do all the work, share tasks and embellish your research.
- Save your work early (not when the
light is on!) and often. The computers can shutdown or freeze at anytime.
Believe it or not it is not just because they are Macs.
- Make a copy of the file that you plan
to put in your teacher’s drop box.
- Save your file with your name, period,
and assignment title: Kory7native.
- Do not leave the computer lab until
the light is on or your teacher dismisses you and whatever you do, please
log out so no one can mess with your desktop images or files.
- Always be prepared to turn an
assignment in no matter where your partners or group members may be. Due
dates are due dates so protect yourself at least.
- Do not print unless absolutely
necessary. If printing from a website or multiple websites, please copy
and paste into a Word file.
- Always use correct citations for your
web research. Random “Google searches” are not appropriate not are they
academic at all. A simple website citation for a bibliography includes
website name, URL (website address), and the date you viewed the site.
“Natives
of North America.” http://wwwnativeamericans.org/northamerican.html,
14 May 2004.
- Never use thumbnails for a PowerPoint
picture or iMovie presentation. Click one more time to find the original
source photo and always use documentation with a bibliography.
- Use the dock at the bottom of the
screen to open your programs instead of the hard drive.
- Never use a smaller font than 20 on
PowerPoint presentations. This way your audience does not have to squint!
- Each student image only has 50 MB of
space, but that should be sufficient for school projects aside from
iMovies which will be saved on the hard drive of the computers being used.
- All assignments will be dropped in my
dropbox for classroom viewing and presentations. You may also drop items
into your partners dropbox or other members of a group.
- Hit the connect button and type in
your password.
- Username: graduation date/last name
and first name (no spaces and no caps) – 1992kalaharkory
- Password: Six Digit Student Number –

Find your image
and begin working!
The image that
will appear is your image. No one can do anything to your image but you unless
you tell them your password or leave your computer logged in. This way you can
save things to your desktop or in an appropriate folder. Remember Macs save
where they think you want them unless you tell them otherwise. Music goes to
the music folder, movies go to the movie folder, and most everything else goes
to documents. Be careful
