Wenatchee High School's Science
and Math
Large Group Instruction (LGI) Room
The
LGI is a large multipurpose room that has 84 Seats, 7 long tables/rows with
12 fixed seats per table. Each
row is elevated. Presenters are at the
lowest
level in front. There is a double
chalkboard, 2 motorized screens, and an overhead projector. The LGI currently
has both hardwired and wireless access to the Internet.
HISTORY:
When this building was designed in the late 1960's, departments were asked
what their needs were. Science requested a lyceum type room where
many classrooms could collaborate on demonstrations, information, presentations,
video viewing,
and the like. It is designed for Large Group Instruction (L.G.I.). The school
was complete and students moved in in 1972-1973. The Math department was
included for the same reasons and close ties to Science. It was very
clear that any
other department would be welcome to share this great
facility. Since the beginning, the Science department has had the responsibility
to schedule
the LGI during the normal school day.
The LGI can be reserved before 7:45 am and after 3:30 pm by contacting our Auditorium Manager John Sefick. Email him at sefick.j@mail.wsd.wednet.edu or by calling him at 662-2815. The primary use is for Wenatchee High School students and staff. If available, it is open to the rest of the Wenatchee School District Employees and to our community. How to get to the LGI; where it is located at WHS.
For more information contact our main office at 663-8117.
TRIVIA......A little known secret is that there once was a stairway from the Math Department to the bottom of the LGI. That stairway was covered up in the 1970's but you can still find it by tapping on the walls!
