September 10th

Happy September.
We are off to a great start in many areas of Panther Athletics....

1. Booster Club has 118 members currently for the 2007-08 school year. Our goal is 200 members. It is never too late to join. You can fill out the membership form on our website (http://whs.wsd.wednet.edu/Faculty/Athletics/supporters/supporters.html0 or log on to the GOUSA website and join using a credit card or paypal. (http://whs.gousa1.com/Catalog.aspx) . Membership is as easy as $20. Help us meet our goal !!!

2. We have 365 athletes cleared for fall sports and just 22 were declared ineligible for week 1 of competition. We are much improved over the past year. Congratulations to the kids, parents and coaches that have made significant commitments to making academics a priority. I am very proud of the improvements.

3. Girls Swimming had a Relay Meet in which they scored 2x more points than any of the competitors. This past Saturday they had an invite meet in which they competed against Rogers (Puyallup), Richland, Hanford and Eastmont. Wenatchee's score was DOUBLE the 2nd place school. Did you know that girls swimming has won every meet, including the DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP for the past 3 years? Amazing. If you haven't been to a swim meet, we have just 2 at home this season. Come out and watch.

3. Cross Country boys and girls won the Eastmont Invite this past Saturday. Our Boys Finished 1 point ahead of Eastmont and our girls finished 35 points ahead of Eastmont finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place in the race.

4. Varsity Football is undefeated going into the league opener on Friday, Sept 14th vs. Eisenhower.

5. The Panther Booster Club Souvenir Program is FREE this year. We had very generous advertisers in which we have been able to cover the cost of production to allow us to give it away. Our Program is a full color program with photos of every team and head shots of each senior and returning letter winner. Programs are available at home athletic events and/or you can stop by the athletic office. We do have a limited supply.

6. The Panther Booster Club Sports Calendar Poster has been printed and is available. These posters get delivered to those businesses that advertise and are available to parents, kids and/or businesses that would like one. We have just 200 available so stop by the office or email/call to set up a way to get the poster.

You can also use this form to order your tickets. You can bring the form (with your check or cash) to the office or to the fall sports kickoff to pick up your tickets in person. Or, you may mail the form to our office and we'll mail them to your home. Purchasing an all-sports pass or a single sport pass provides you entrance to games at a reduced rate. In addition, you do not have to stand in line upon your arrival to the game. Please remember that these tickets are only for REGULAR season events hosted by Wenatchee High School. We will sell these tickets between August 20 - September 7th.

3. Wenatchee Athletic Clothing is now available to order through the GOUSA website : http://whs.gousa1.com/Catalog.aspx
Please note that there are deadlines to order if you hope to get your clothing on a timely manner. Our first weekend of play is August 31/Sept 1.. if you want your "stuff" by that weekend, make your order by Tuesday, August 21. The clothing is divided up by W items, Sport Items and Booster Club items. There are also items for Jr. Panthers. We have also found a warm up suit that we love for our athletes. We are hoping our athletes will consider purchasing the warm up suit as travel gear. We will keep this line of warm up for 2 years before we change. I have sample sizes in my office and I encourage kids to take a look as they run rather big. There is also the option of purchasing Gift Cards for $20, $50 or $100 which can allow family and friends outside of the area to give their panther fans a gift that they can use.

4. Please consider joining the Wenatchee Panther Booster Club. We have prided ourselves for the last few years in having the largest Booster Membership in the Columbia Basin League and possibly even the state !!!! You can join for as little as $20 and as much as $250. We believe, for $20, all Panther Supporters can join !!! Some levels of membership come with a Gift Card that you can use to make purchases on the GOUSA website and also allow you to make a donation to your favorite sport. Membership forms are available on our website : http://whs.wsd.wednet.edu/Faculty/Athletics/supporters/supporters.html

If you are willing, you are invited !!!! Please RSVP to BJ at kuntz.b@mail.wsd.wednet.edu. The regular board meeting will follow from 6:30-8:00 and will include cleaning the concession stands. Our 2nd meeting is on August 28th from 6:30-7:30 pm when we will train our new concession leads. If you are a lead, please plan to be there. If you think you would be willing to help in the concessions this year and are not able to take a leadership role, join us for health card testing so you can have the training you need.

August 13th

I hope you had a wonderful summer vacation with quality time spent with your family and friends.
Summer typically feels like it goes too fast. The evenings are cooling down so it's time for fall sports.
I don't know about you, but I'm anxiously awaiting the beginning of a terrific year for Panther Sports.

The summer participation was well up from past years as we are building on the amazing 2006-07 school year that brought us home the Boys All-Sports Trophy and 2nd place by our Girls in the race for the All-Sports Trophy.

This email will be the first of many in the upcoming weeks as we begin the year of sports.
If you no longer want to receive this email, you may hit reply and request that I remove you.

Football begins on Wednesday, August 15th.
Cross Country, Volleyball, Girls Soccer and Girls Swimming begins Monday, August 20th.
Athletes must be cleared before they can participate. Many kids cleared back in May/June and a handful have cleared in the past few days, however, I anticipate many more in the next several days.
If you are unsure what you need to complete in order to clear, check out "clearance" on our website: http://whs.wsd.wednet.edu/Faculty/Athletics/Athleticinfo/athleticinfo.html

If your athlete has already cleared for his/her fall sport, all they need to do is arrive at the first practice ready to go. Practice schedules are posted on our website : http://whs.wsd.wednet.edu/Faculty/Athletics/Athletichome.html

If your athlete has NOT cleared for his/her fall sport or needs to drop off an updated their physical, please do so during office hours (7:30am-4:30pm) M-F.

Important Upcoming Dates : ( also posted on the website : http://whs.wsd.wednet.edu/Faculty/Athletics/YearlyKeyDates.html )

August 24 - Fall Sports Pictures - Each athlete will have a picture envelope sent home. If they lose it or forget it, Parsons always has envelopes available at the picture taking sessions. The only pictures required are the team pictures and seniors/returning varsity letter winners will have a head shot taken. You have the option to purchase the team picture and/or have a "memory mate" picture taken (individual photo of your athlete). The time and location of the pictures are posted on the website.

August 27 - Fall Sports Kickoff - Beginning at 6:30pm, I will speak to the athletes and parents. At approximately 7:15, we will break off into individual sports meetings. Each sport will have clipboards for parents to sign in that they have received the team handbook and attended the parent meeting. Many sports are going to require that a parent attend or your son/daughter will not be allowed to participate in a contest. If you are unable to attend the kickoff, you will have the opportunity to attend a make up parent meeting in the week following.
