Discipline
A. The main objective of this course is to present the students with up-to-date
knowledge on a variety of health issues. This will be accomplished through
many different activities. The students will read, complete written assignments,
listen to guest speakers, participate in class lectures and discussions,
watch videos, and participate in class projects and presentations.

II. Class Materials Required Everyday:
-Three-ring binder that say Health on it with paper inside
-5 dividers to go inside your notebook.
-Pencils and Pens. All written assignments need to be typed or completed in blue
or black ink.
-Bring in completed homework or handouts which have been distributed in class.
-Student Handbook.
III. Class Rules:
-#1 BE RESPECTFUL! Of school, teachers, and other students.
-Be ON TIME!! Be seated everyday when the light goes off.
-Have books open, materials out, assignments complete, and be ready to work.
BE PREPARED!
-You may drink water in class, however, No Food or Beverages!
-If you happen to come in late with a tardy slip, sign in on the clipboard,
come in quietly and jump into the activity or lesson. Please do not disrupt
the class.
-Respect yourself, others, and their property. Including school property.
-Use positive comments only.
-Bring student planner to class everyday.
IV. Absences & Tardies:
A. Upon return, the student will be responsible for getting class notes and
assignments from the instructor or another student.
B. Students will follow attendance procedures for WHS. ON ALL ABSENCES students
will need to bring an admit slip to class, whether excused, unexcused or a
truancy slip.
C. The student will have the same number of days, as they were absent, to make
up the assigned work. On the top of the assignment, write the date of the absence(s)
and the date it is being turned in.
D. WHS Tardy Policy states that students will be sent a notice home on the
third tardy to indicate that any subsequent tardy would result in detention
assigned with campus supervisors.
V. Grading:
A. Each student will receive a grade based on class assignments and tests of
his/her knowledge. Daily work, and large projects will make up 40% of his/her
grade while quizzes, tests and class presentations will make up 30%. 20% of
your grade will be your final portfolio and 10% will be community citizenship
and participation. Students who complete all their work on time will pass the
class.
B. If a student does not turn in an assignment, he/she will have one day only
to get the assignment in with a grade of 70% or lower, depending on the accuracy
and quality.C. A Health Portfolio of the students work will be part of in-class work.
The student will be required to have a separate three ring binder for this
class. Students are also required to have that three ring binder in class
everyday.
D. Students will also be asked to work collaboratively with you as parents
regarding some projects and will be graded on your collaboration together.
E. Your student will be required to do some research work on the internet.
He/she will need to get the library computer access/internet access sheet
signed in his/her student handbook.
VI. Discipline Procedures
A. WHS Failure to Work Procedures. First Concern: The teacher will have
a personal conversation with the in an effort to clarify expectations and
reinforce the standard to this class. The teacher will also document the
conversation. Second Concern: The teacher will notify the appropriate administrator
and document the previous communication. The administrator will set up
a conference with the parent to indicate that choosing not ot work is not
acceptable. If the behavior continues the student will be dropped from
the class. The counselor will review success in other classes. Third Offense:
The student will be removed from the class.
