September 1, 2004
Dear Parent / Guardian:
I am pleased to announce the opportunity for you and your son/daughter to monitor his/her progress in my AP US History class with greater ease, detail, and frequency. Beginning the second week in September, parents and individual students will be able to access class grades, assignment records, and attendance history on my classroom Internet site at whs.wsd.wednet.edu/faculty/kalahar/web/index.htm by clicking the ÒgradesÓ link on the right hand column. These reports will list all assignments and tests that have been entered into the grade book and specify any missing work. Assignment and test information will be updated at least twice a week, and attendance statistics will be updated at the end of each week.
In order to access the grade reports you and your child will need to select a personal six-character password. The password protection provides assurance that only you, the student, and I will be able to access confidential student information. This feature will allow private access to a current and detailed progress report at any time from any Internet capable computer in the world.
Please write the password in the space provided below and keep a copy for yourself along with the site address, have your son/daughter return the signed form to me, and check the classroom site next week to see that everything is working. Please be sure to let me know via email or telephone if you have any questions. Thank you for your time and interest.
Sincerely,
Kory Kalahar
