World War II Project
By yourself or with
a partner choose one of the following projects to do on World War II. Please
cite all of the sources that you use with your project in the correct citation format.
Your grade will reflect the effort, quality, and historical significance of the
project.
- Make a newspaper front page depicting an
event that occurred in WWII. Be sure to mimic newspapers of the day and
have other significant stories of as well. Also include pictures,
advertisements, etc.
- Write an essay on a particular person or
event of the World War II period. You are fairly open here, but please
follow the essay structure and format.
- Make a creative timeline of the World
War II era. Find at least fifteen important events that will be placed on
your timeline. Each event must have an illustration and a detailed
paragraph description as well. Try to keep a consistent theme.
- Make a poster that the government might
have used to encourage people to support the war. Provide a detailed
description of your aim and purpose of the poster and who it would be
targeted to.
- Create a pack of five political cartoons
that might have appeared in the newspapers in the 1940’s. Provide a
paragraph of the background and an explanation for each cartoon.
- Write a creative “you are there” paper
about the WWII era. Be sure to incorporate accurate historical information
in your paper.
- Draw or paint a WWII scene using detail
and descriptive imagery. This one is for the serious artist only. Please
provide a title for the work and a background paragraph.
- Create a detailed brochure that might
have been passed out by a group from the private sector. Choose either an
interventionist or an isolationists group and try to persuade people to
join your cause.
